I'm really happy to have a story published online in the October 2025 issue of Agnes and True: The Leftovers of Sugaring Season.

Agnes and True is an online literary journal dedicated to Canadian writers. From their website: "As our name suggests, Agnes and True celebrates the achievement of women, though not exclusively. We are particularly interested in discovering and publishing the work of emerging older writers."
I must be an emerging older writer!
I began this story "Leftovers" by combining two older pieces, one to do with a family dealing with bereavement, the other from the series featuring my character Marcus of Montreal. I then turned it on its head by narrating it from an unusual perspective. It took quite a while to get it to work.
My thanks to the journal's editor-in-chief and co-founder, Susan Alexander, and especially to the editor Julie McArthur. Julie's edits improved the story a lot, and she also showed me how to correctly apply an em-dash—check out the opening paragraph.
