Writing News

My short story Cleanliness is next to Godliness has just been published in issue 61 of Crannóg Magazine.

I'm delighted that this story has found a welcome in the beautiful city of Galway, as for a long time I thought it would be forever homeless and rejected. The first draft was written for a class at the Open University in 2022 and I revised it many many times afterwards - it must have taken me about fifteen re-writes before I arrived at an ending that felt right. The main character Rose Gallagher was nagging at me non-stop for more than two years, but when she finally fell silent I knew it was done. Unfortunately it's not a good ending for poor Rose.
