Today at the Cúirt festival in Galway I read my prize-winning story at the Nun's Island Theatre in front of a lovely appreciative audience. I had a grand time beforehand in the green room (ME IN THE FRICKIN GREEN ROOM AT CÚIRT!) with the other prize-winners, Finola Cahill and Úna Nic Cárthaigh.
Afterwards, Susan Mars and the Over The Edge writing group took us all out for lunch, to the Oyster Bar in the Hardiman on Eyre Square no less. For a few hours I felt like a successful writer, but my sister was with me to make sure I didn't lose the run of myself.
